Born and raised in Yucaipa, California, he spent 12 years playing baseball before his grandfather introduced him to pickleball at age 13 in 2019. With no racquet sport experience to fall back on, he built his game entirely from scratch — a fact that makes his rapid ascent all the more striking.
By 16, he had walked away from baseball entirely and turned professional in 2022.
