Durham Pickleball Courts – Quick Guide

Durham has a strong and growing pickleball scene in the heart of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, with 30+ courts spread across public parks, rec centers, and indoor facilities. The mild climate makes outdoor play possible nearly year-round, and the city’s flagship 12-court facility at Piney Wood Park gives players a true dedicated home base.

Here’s where to find the best courts in Durham.

  • Address: 400 E Woodcroft Pkwy, Durham, NC 27713
  • Courts: 12 dedicated outdoor courts
  • Surface: Hard court
  • Hours: 8 AM – 8 PM daily
  • Lights: Yes (until 8 PM)
  • Cost: Free
  • Amenities: Parking, portable ADA restrooms

Eight courts are open for daily play, and four can be reserved for leagues, lessons, and drilling groups. All 12 courts have permanent nets and lines. Weekly beginner clinics run Sunday afternoons. Expect crowds on weekend mornings.

Bethesda Park

  • Address: 1814 Stage Rd, Durham, NC 27703
  • Courts: 6 outdoor courts (covered)
  • Surface: Hard court
  • Hours: Alternating schedule (pickleball/tennis)
  • Lights: Yes
  • Cost: Free
  • Amenities: Restrooms, water, parking, wheelchair accessible

Bethesda runs on a shared schedule with tennis, so check DPR’s pickleball page before heading out. The covered roof is a big draw, keeping courts shaded in summer and playable in light rain. Courts 1 and 2 are reservable for coaching and organized play.

Morreene Road Park

  • Address: 1102 Morreene Rd, Durham, NC 27705
  • Courts: 4 outdoor courts (dual-use with tennis)
  • Surface: Hard court
  • Hours: Dawn to dusk

  • Amenities: Restrooms, parking, playground

Bring your own nets here since the courts share space with tennis. Courts 1 and 3 are reservable, while 2 and 4 are open play only. Good option on Durham’s west side with a family-friendly park surrounding it.
